Four Renowned Scholars Honored as Emeritus Professors at Dhaka University
In a prestigious recognition, Dhaka University (DU) has appointed four distinguished academicians as emeritus professors, acknowledging their exceptional contributions to the institution. The esteemed individuals include Prof. Anwarullah Chowdhury and Prof. AFM Yusuf Haider, both former vice-chancellors of DU, as well as Prof. Tajmeri SA Islam and Prof. Choudhury Mahmood Hasan, who served as former deans of the science and pharmacy faculties, respectively.
This decision, as confirmed by Rafiqul Islam Panna, acting director of DU's Public Relations Office, was made by the university syndicate based on a recommendation from the Academic Council. The four scholars will continue their association with DU in an emeritus capacity, offering invaluable guidance and expertise in their respective academic fields.
As emeritus professors, they will retain the privileges and support they enjoyed during their tenure, including access to the university library for research and publications, secretarial assistance, and medical facilities. However, they will not be entitled to university housing.
