Breaking News: Double the Wide Receivers, Double the Excitement! Notre Dame just snagged not one, but two former Ohio State wide receivers from the transfer portal! Mylan Graham is joining the Fighting Irish in 2026, with Quincy Porter already on board. This move has certainly stirred up the college football scene.
Graham's journey to Notre Dame wasn't exactly a straight shot. He initially visited the campus on January 8th, just days after entering the transfer portal. While other schools like Auburn, Ole Miss, and Louisville showed interest, Notre Dame ultimately won out.
The Buckeyes tried to keep him, but... Ohio State made a last-ditch effort to retain Graham, but their attempts were unsuccessful. Ranked as the No. 105 overall player and the No. 24 wide receiver in the transfer portal, Graham's addition is a significant boost for the Irish.
It seems like fate played a part in this union. Graham, a highly-touted recruit, had visited Notre Dame three times during his high school days, often alongside his close friend, Tae Johnson, a star safety for the Irish. This connection likely played a role in his decision.
The Transfer Portal's Unexpected Twists The transfer portal often introduces teams to players they might not have considered during high school recruitment. Interestingly, of the five portal players who visited Notre Dame, Graham was the only one who had previously received a scholarship offer from the Irish.
Notre Dame did offer Graham a scholarship coming out of New Haven, Indiana, roughly two hours from South Bend. However, he was also pursued by numerous prominent programs, including Ohio State. Despite being a four-star recruit, things didn't quite click for Graham at Ohio State.
After two seasons in Columbus, Graham is now set to spend at least the next couple of years with the Fighting Irish.
From Hype to Opportunity While Graham's time at Ohio State was marked by potential, his in-game production was somewhat limited. In fact, he had more receiving yards in the 2025 spring game than he did throughout his entire two-year career with the Buckeyes.
For Notre Dame, Graham's arrival presents an opportunity to strengthen their already promising young wide receiver core. The coaching staff now faces the challenge of identifying and nurturing the players who will shine on Saturdays. The hope is that Graham fits that mold.
The Waiting Game at Ohio State At Ohio State, Graham found himself behind established talents like Jeremiah Smith, Carnell Tate, and Brandon Innis. These players had impressive stats, leaving Graham in a position where he had to wait for his chance.
In his high school career at New Haven, Graham showcased his skills with 112 catches for 2,062 yards and 21 touchdowns in 24 games. A fresh start closer to home could be exactly what he needs.
Homecoming or Not, It's a Win-Win! While it might not be a full-fledged homecoming, Graham's move to Notre Dame is certainly a welcome development. It could unlock the full potential he displayed in high school.
