The long-awaited and previously unreleased album by Slipknot, titled "Look Outside Your Window," is set to finally make its debut on Record Store Day in 2026. This announcement brings excitement to fans who have been anticipating this project for years.
What’s intriguing about this release is that it won’t be categorized as a standard Slipknot album. Instead, it will be presented as a self-titled endeavor from Look Outside Your Window. With only 2,300 copies available, this album has a storied history; it was recorded in 2008 during the sessions for Slipknot’s fourth studio album, "All Hope Is Gone." The creative process involved band members Corey Taylor, Jim Root, Sid Wilson, and Shawn "Clown" Crahan exploring new musical territory separate from their main work with Slipknot.
In a recent statement, the band reflected on their creative journey: "We were aware that we were embarking on a path distinctly different from what Slipknot represented, and we embraced that change with enthusiasm." They named the project "Look Outside Your Window" to honor their adventurous spirit in music-making.
They elaborated further, describing the atmosphere during the creation of the songs: "Born from a tumultuous period in our history, these tracks came to life late at night in a remote farmhouse. As we gazed through a large picture window, we pondered what might be hidden in the shadows outside. That sense of mystery infused our music. We operated without constraints; inspiration could spring from anywhere—whether it was gentle drum patterns, snippets of organ melodies, abstract guitar sounds, or even recordings of frogs and crickets. Guided purely by our emotions and instincts, we allowed the sounds to lead us in our exploration."
Back in December, Clown made a commitment during a Discord Q&A session related to his Minecraft server, confirming that "Look Outside Your Window" would be released in 2026. This announcement arrives after multiple missed opportunities for the album's launch, which was initially teased for 2019, 2023, and 2024.
